SITE RATING:  1/10
SITE REVIEW:  I'm not against modern re-imaginings of Messiah - I think that certain efforts, if done with taste, imagination, or even humor, can be entertaining, and occasionally revelatory.  Messiah Remix, on the other hand, sounds convoluted, muddy, and disjointed - in other words, a mess.  Instead of exploding Messiah and reforming the skeleton of it into interesting ways, Remix merely explodes the original, leaving a smoking pile of strewn-about bits and pieces which makes no coherent sense, and all too often dissolves into a sludge of ambient noise which shows just how unimaginative and bland these mixes are.  More damning, the droning, hip-hop interpolations, and aimless, wispy arrangements leave an impression of discord and confusion which is completely at odds with Handel's baroque masterpiece - an anti-Messiah, if you will; replacing the clean, orderly perfection of Messiah with a bleak, oppressive sound scape which deadens feelings and leaves the listener with a feeling of hopelessness.  The brief snippets of Messiah which are left, shamble about and stutter, zombie-like, in ineffectual glimpses which made me want to run and listen to the original - a backhanded compliment which is the only praise I can muster for this sad, unfortunate effort.
